Latest Information:

Key Criteria:
Assistance is mainly given to registered charities, however, exceptions are made on occasions where overseas applicants and individuals are concerned.

Eligible Expenditure:
The Foundation carries out its objectives by:

  • Funding medical research generally and the relief of sickness. The research funded into cancer is both pure research and applied research with the objective of finding cures and treatments for this disease and improving the lives of sufferers and their families.
  • Financing children's education in the United Kingdom and abroad by making grants to schools' core costs and assisting disadvantaged children.
  • Funding community based projects where often a relatively small grant can make a big impact to many people both immediately and into the future.
  • Promoting and developing theatrical, musical and dramatic arts by a variety of means including education, theatres refurbishment/restoration programmes and the support of a broad range of theatre productions for the enjoyment and education of the public at large.
  • Providing grants to environmental projects aimed at the conservation, protection and enhancement of nature in the United Kingdom.

Religious or political activities are not eligible for support. The Foundation does not get involved in any 'hands-on' administration of any charitable projects and due to its limited monitoring resources, it prefers to concentrate its funding on other registered charities that are supervised in the conduct of their affairs by the Charity Commissioners.
